Introducing objet de vertu, a new, seasonally curated collection of small decorative objects.
The term objet de vertu first emerged in an 1862 issue of Vanity Fair to describe a new trend rising among 19th century collectors. Bridging jewelry and lifestyle, these highly fashionable items were desired for their fine materials and workmanship. While these objects were famed for their beauty, they were also made to be handled, opened, carried and kept close. Examples include evening clutches, luxurious snuff boxes, powder compacts, hair combs, scent bottles, cigarette cases, decorative miniatures, and other personal accessories.
This collection is close to my heart - I've been collecting objects for as long as I have been obsessing about jewelry! Throughout the years at our SDJ events, I've always included small objet when displaying the jewelry, and was often asked whether the items are available for purchase. I realized that others are as drawn to these special beauties as I am, and a new collection emerged.
The SDJ Spring 2026 objet de vertu collection is globally sourced, with special finds ranging from the late 17th through the early 20th century. Whether they are to be used or simply admired, these uniquely splendid objects bring a taste of glamour to any modern collection.
